Kochi: The birth anniversary of the legendary hockey player Dhyan Chand on Monday was observed as the National Sports Day by the Thodupuzha Soccer School and Nehru Yuva Kendra.
The valedictory function of the National Sports Day celebrations was held at Thodupuzha where the Thodupuzha Soccer School Director and former national player P A Saleemkutty welcomed the gathering.
Noted athlete Anjali Jose, former national volleyball star Minimol, former national football player Rahul participated. Various programmes were organised in connection with the event that was inaugurated General Education Director Jeevan Babu.
On Sunday The Idukki district ayurveda hospital sports ayurveda research cell doctors Vineeth and Anupriya organised sports medical camp which was inaugurated by the Idukki district sports council president Romia Sebastian.
Dr Mathew Vembilly delivered the message of sports and distributed mementos.
An exhibition match between Dr G V Raja Football Academy, Poonjar, and Thodupuzha Soccer School was held. Dr Sateesh Warrier was present.
