Violence erupts in Nagpur

Kochi: Violence erupted in central Nagpur on Monday evening following rumours about burning of a religious book, media reports said.
Protesters pelted stones and took to arson. Security forces used tear gas and batons to disperse the crowd. Four persons were injured in the unrest.
The tensions started after a group staged a protest demanding the removal of Aurangzeb’s tomb.
Rumours of desecration of a religious book added fuel to the fire.Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis appealed for peace and urged people to cooperate with the authorities. Union Minister Nitin appealed to people to maintain peace and don’t believe in rumours.Meanwhile, Maharashtra Congress chief Harshvardhan Sapkal blamed the state government for the violence.
He alleged that state ministers were making provocative speeches.
Sapkal urged citizens to maintain peace.He also accused the government of using communal tensions to divert attention from key issues like inflation, unemployment, and farmer suicides, the reports said.
