Kochi: A visually impaired person was detained by the customs for
allegedly smuggling gold worth ₹3.44 crore at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru.
The arrest took place on March 4 after authorities intercepted the passenger who arrived from Dubai based on a tip-off.
Customs posted on X, “Upon inspection, 3,995.22 grams of gold worth ₹3,44,38,796, concealed under his shirt…”
Kannada actress Ranya Rao was held at Bengaluru airport for smuggling gold worth ₹12.56 crore the other day.
Rao remanded to judicial custody until March 18.
