Kochi: A web series on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) directed by a few top directors is in the pipeline, media reports said.
Malayalam filmmaker Priyadarshan is among the six award winning directors joining hands to direct the Hindi series Titled Ek Rashtra, that will tell a century old history of the outfit. The other five directors include Vivek Agnihotri, Dr Chandra Prakash Dwivedi, John Mathew Mathan, Manju Borah and Sanjay Puran Singh.
The series comprises a collection of different stories directed by different directors.
There are reports of the producers approaching Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut with roles in it, the reports said.
The series comes at a time when the RSS, founded in 1925, is making preparations to observe its centenary celebration in 2025.
A special focus will be given on RSS activities, including its contributions to disaster relief, social reform, and educational initiatives. The project was first announced in January 2023. RSS, which was founded in 1925 by a doctor Keshav Baliram Hedgewar as part of the movement against British rule, is an Indian far-right Hindu nationalist volunteer organisation present across the country having influence over the Bharatiya Janata Party heading the central government.
It is a Non-profit political organisation
promoting Hindu nationalism. Having at least 5 million members, RSS had 56,859 branches in 2016, the reports said.
