Kochi: Tabla maestro Zakir Hussain, 73, died at a hospital in the US on Sunday, media reports said.
He was admitted to a hospital in San Francisco with heart-related problems.
Hussain was suffering from blood pressure issues.
Zakir Hussain was the eldest son of noted tabla maestro.
He has to his credit five Grammy Awards, Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Vibhushan awards.
