Kochi: Adnan Sami, a Pakistani who migrated to India, has said that the younger generation from Islamabad are migrating to other countries, media reports said.
The 55-year old UK born multi talented musician, Padmashri Sami was also a citizen of Canada, quoted some boys whom he met in Azerbaijan, applauding Sami for taking the right decision to quit Pakistan.
Sami, who landed in India on a visiting visa in 2001 and became an Indian in 2016, further quoted the boys of their desire to abandon Pakistan identities.
The boys blamed the Pakistan Army for destroying their country.
The singer said he had realised it long back.
“Met some very sweet Pakistani boys while walking on the beautiful streets of Baku, Azerbaijan… They said “Sir, You are very lucky.. You left Pakistan in good time.. We also want to change our citizenship…WE HATE OUR ARMY…They have destroyed our country!!” I replied “ I knew this long ago!”
Born to Arshad Sami Khan, a Pakistani Air Force veteran and diplomat of Pashtun origin, and Naureen, from Jammu and Kashmir, Sami was raised and educated in the United Kingdom.
Sami did his bachelor’s degree in law from King’s College, London and went on to qualify as a barrister from Lincoln’s Inn, England.
