Kochi: CPM veteran leader V Kunhikrishnan is likely to face action for his outburst against party MLA T I Madhusoodanan for misappropriation of funds amassed for slain party worker C V Dhanraj, media reports said.
Kunhikrishnan had alleged that around ₹46 lakh was misappropriated from a ₹1 crore fund collected by the party for helping the family of Dhanraj who was hacked to death allegedly by BJP–RSS workers in July 2016.
The allegations, which had surfaced three years ago, were settled internally.
The misappropriation took place during Madhusoodanan’s tenure as secretary of the CPM Payyannur Area Committee, Kunhikrishnan had told Asianet News.
Kunhikrishnan said he came to know about it in 2020 after he assumed charge as area secretary and reviewed the financial records.
The allegations have shocked the state and party at a time when assembly elections are only a few days away.
The issue has surfaced when the Left front is yet to recover from the defeat suffered in the Local bodies polls recently.
