Kochi: The Indian Army on Wednesday eliminated Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Hashim Moosa who was a key associate of slain LeT commander Sulaiman Shah who was involved in the Pahalgam attack in October 2024 that claimed 25 innocent lives.
The suspect, a Pakistan-based LeT terrorist, identified as Mohammad Asif alias Hashim Moosa, was neutralised in an encounter in the upper reaches of Central Kashmir, Asianet news reported.
Officials said Moosa was an associate of Yasir who was killed in another operation in the same forest area. They were part of a group that was involved in a series of attacks including the ambush at Dera Ki Gali in Poonch, in which four soldiers were killed, and an attack on an Air Force convoy.
The Army carried out a joint search operation in Korag, Yousmarg, in Central Kashmir after “vigilant troops observed suspicious activity and, upon being challenged, terrorists opened fire, prompting a fierce exchange of gunfire during which one terrorist was neutralised. Operation is in progress.”
In July 2025, Union Home Minister Amit Shah told the Lok Sabha that the three militants killed by the Indian Army were involved in the Pahalgam attack.
