Kochi: Gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh will appear before the ED ifor questioning in connection with the statement she had given before the court accusing the complicity of Kerala Chief Minister and others in the case.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had served a notice directing her to appear at the Kochi office on June 22 in the wake of the ED getting a copy of the secret statement given by her under section 164 a few days back.
Swapna agreed to appear before the ED as required.
Swapna Suresh had revealed some of the charges before the media on a number of occasions bringing it before the public domain.
She had accused the involvement of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, his wife, daughter and others in the case.
Swapna Suresh was held in connection with gold smuggling worth over Rs 22 crore in Thiruvananthapuram airport in 2020. Kerala Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary V Sivasankar, was also arrested in the case which is being probed by the Customs, NIA and ED.
