Kochi: The Supreme Court has ruled in favour of conducting safe and legal abortion process for women without any discrimination within 24 weeks of pregnancy under the Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Act.
The court ruled that any distinction between a married and an unmarried woman in this regard is unconstitutional, media reports said.
The marital rape must be included in the case of rape defined under the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act, the court ruled while giving the verdict on a petition filed by a 25-year-old unmarried woman challenging a Delhi High Court order.h
