Kochi: Nonagenarian technocrat E Sreedharan of BJP has bid adieu to active politics citing age reasons.
Increasing age was causing difficulty in becoming active in politics, he told reporters.
However, he said that he will be there in politics, but not active.
While stepping into the hustings there was tremendous confidence, he said.
Sreedharan said he had learnt some lessons from the defeat suffered in the assembly election. There was desperation initially after the defeat, he said, adding that he had no regrets.
He said that the BJP needed to change its approach in the state.
He said one can serve people even without being in a political party.
The BJP had announced Sreedharan as chief ministerial candidate in the last assembly elections and he had contested from Palakkad.
With regard to the semi high speed rail project, he said the project was not beneficial to the state, media reports said.
He would have stood with it if it was beneficial. He accused the government of directing the authorities involved in the semi high speed rail project to keep him out of the loop.
