Kochi: There seems to be no end to the problems of the faction-ridden Congress as yet a fresh problem has cropped up from Sashi Tharoor, MP, who has backed the LDF government’s K-rail project counter to the stand of the Congress.
Tharoor said that he had an enjoyable discussion with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on the project.
On some issues politics should be kept away for the sake of the development of the state, Shashi said on his Facebook post, media reports said.
On the other hand, senior party leader Mullappally Ramachandran sought disciplinary action against Tharoor.
Any child knows the consequences of implementing the K-rail project, Mullappally said, adding that a responsible and a person with sharp brains is not expected to do such things.
Winning elections on Congress tickets and siding with the rival front is like cheating people, media reports said.
He had embarrassed the party by supporting the government giving operations and management of Thiruvananthapuram airport to Adani group which was also against Congress’ stand.
The party cannot afford him to continue like this. If he is not aware of the party ideology, it becomes the responsibility of the party to teach it to him, Mullappally told reporters, media reports said.
