Kochi: BNP led by Tarique Rahman won 120 seats and was leading in 150 out of the 300 parliamentary seats in Bangladesh national elections.
BNP established a strong lead over the hardline anti-India Jamaat and its allies.
Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus, who is heading the present interim government, took charge after the collapse of the Hasina-led Awami League which has been banned from contesting the poll and its symbol.
BNP chairman Rahman, who has won from both constituencies he contested, is likely to be the next Prime Minister.
