Kochi: The Kerala University has turned into a platform for the Left controlled Syndicate to clash with the Vice Chancellor over the suspension of its Registrar for allegedly dishonouring Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar.
The Vice Chancellor Mohan Kunnummal
had suspended the Registrar K S Anil Kumar for canceling a function attended by the Governor to honour RSS leaders and release a book in the backdrop of Bharat Mata picture.
Anil Kumar, backed by the Left government, was suspended by the Vice Chancellor Mohan Kunnummal, who was given charge of the university last October by former state Governor Arif Mohammed Khan.
Meanwhile, the Left supported University Syndicate reappointment Anil Kumar as the Registrar declaring that his suspension
as illegal.
Anil Kumar withdrew his petition challenging his suspension in Kerala High Court following the syndicate’s decision to reinstate him.
The syndicate decision came amidst the Kerala High Court hearing the petition of Anil Kumar challenging the Vice Chancellor’s decision to suspend him.
Interestingly, the Vice Chancellor in-charge Ciza Thomas on Monday appointed Mini Kappan as the temporary registrar as a counter to Syndicate’s move to reinstate Anil Kumar.
Ciza Thomas also suspended Joint Registrar P Hari Kumar for allegedly approving the syndicate meeting held in her absence on Sunday.
