Kochi: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and a few ministers are planning to make foreign trips to Britain, France, Norway and Finland to emulate foreign model
Tourism Minister Mohammad Riyas is soon visiting Paris in connection with the French Travel Mart.
Pinarayi Vijayan will be accompanied by Education Minister V Sivankutty and other officials during the visit next month to Finland on their invitation to learn about the education system.
Finance Minister K N Balagopal and Industry Minister P Rajeev are visiting Britain to attract investments in Kerala. The government is planning to seek clearance from the centre for the visit.
Meanwhile, Balagopal has justified the trips saying that visits are essential to learn various things from other countries. Kerala is not that pauper to ignore such visits, he said.
Ironically, Kerala skipped the World Economic Forum’s meeting at Davos in Switzerland in June this year when Karnataka attracted projects worth atleast Rs 60,000 crore, Maharashtra Rs 30,000 crore, Telangana Rs 4,200 crore and Andhra Pradesh Rs 1,100 crore.
