Kochi: Violent scenes were witnessed when
protesters led by Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leader Abhijeet Dipke defied police attempts to prevent them from marching to Parliament after their talks with centre failed.
Police and other security agencies attempted to stop CJP supporters outside the Sansad Marg Police station.
Police used batons to control the crowd, injuring a few protesters. Police fired tear gas at protesters, who were stopped at Raisina Road, barely 200 metres from Parliament.
Delhi Metro announced the closure of five metro stations, ahead of the Parliament march, due to ‘security reasons’. Gates of Central Secretariat and Rajiv Chowk were opened later, the reports said.
Fasting activist Sonam Wangchuk, who was arrested and moved to hospital, said that he will end his hunger strike if the government is ready to take accountability for failures in the education system.
