Kochi: Political parties ended their campaign on a high note for the Thrikkakara Assembly by elections as the time for open canvassing came to an end on Sunday evening.
Political parties went full throttle on the last day soliciting votes in favour of their candidates.
The centrist UDF candidate Uma Thomas, wife of late Congress leader P T Thomas, had star campaigners like A K Antony working for her.
The seat has gone in favour of the Congress after the formation of the constituency in 2011. P T Thomas won it in 2016 and in 2021 when the wind was in favour of the LDF which won 99 out of 140 seats thel
Nevertheless, the LDF is working hard to break the record of the Congress despite many factors going against it.
The LDF is worried over the bruises suffered by it in the name of the K-Rail high speed rail project from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod which is seeing mass opposition from the people who are scared of losing their land for the project.
The allegation made by the survivor of the 2017 actor abuse case against the government had hit the administration hard.
The allegations that LDF candidate Dr Jo Joseph was a candidate of the church has also gone against it.
The BJP-led third front is upbeat as the former MLA P C George has joined their camp after getting a bail in the hate speech delivered by him.
