Kochi: The 1993 Mumbai blasts mastermind and underworld don, Dawood Ibrahim, has been admitted to a hospital in Karachi in Pakistan, media reports said.
There are reports that he was hospitalised two days back due to suspected poisoning, the reports said.
Security has been beefed up near the hospital, the reports said.
National Investigation Agency (NIA) had got information early this year that he was living in Karachi with his new wife, the reports said.
After the bombings three decades back that claimed 250 lives, he left Mumbai to settle down in Pakistan.
Pakistan had been rejecting India‘s claims that Dawood was hiding in Pakistan since the blast.
According to the NIA, Dawood is operating a global terrorist network dealing in criminal activities like arms smuggling, narco terrorism, underworld criminal syndicate among others.
His network had active association with terror outfits like LeT, Jaish and Al Qaeda.
The NIA had registered a case in 2022 against him and others with a huge prize money.
Dawood was declared an ‘international terrorist’ by the United Nations.
