Kochi: A 68-year-old fish vendor was sentenced to triple life imprisonment by a Thrissur court for raping and impregnating a minor.
The fast track court in Kunnamkulam also slapped a penalty of Rs 1.5 lakh on Krishnankutty who raped the victim when she went to his place to buy fish in 2015, media reports said.
The prosecution presented DNA reports of the baby delivered by the minor matching with that of the convict’s, the reports said.
The prosecution presented 25 witnesses and 23 documents before the court, the reports said.
The prosecution prayed to the court to give suitable punishment to the accused to prevent recurrence of similar incidents in future.
