Double Life for Chenthamara

Kochi: Chenthamara (54) was sentenced to double life imprisonment in the Nenmara Sajitha case in 2019 by
the Additional District and Sessions
Court-IV on Saturday, Manorama News reported.
The court imposed a fine of ₹3.25 lakh on the convict.
The prosecution’s demand for capital punishment was rejected by the court, observing that the case does not fall under the rarest of the rare category.
Chenthamara was convicted for murdering Sajitha (35), a native of Pothundi, on August 31, 2019 to settle scores.
Chenthamara killed Sajitha’s husband Sudhakaran (54) and his mother Lakshmi (75) on January 27, 2025, after securing a bail.
In the Sajitha murder case, the prosecution examined 34 witnesses and produced 63 documents as evidence. Public Prosecutor M J Vijayakumar appeared for the state.
He was booked under Sections 302 (murder), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence), and 449 (house trespass) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
