Kochi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in the alleged liquor policy scam on Thursday, media reports said.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief was arrested in an excise policy-linked money laundering case, the reports said.
Kejriwal is the first chief minister to be arrested in an alleged corruption case in the country.
Earlier, the Delhi High Court had rejected Kejriwal’s plea seeking interim protection from arrest.
The court sought a response from the ED on Kejriwal’s plea by April 22. He had ignored nine summons issued by the ED in the case. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has been in jail in connection with the case since last year.
