Kochi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Shaj Kiran to appear before it on Tuesday in connection with the deposition made by diplomatic baggage gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh.
The ED is questioning Swapna for the last few days on the basis of a secret statement given by her before the court accusing the complicity of Kerala Chief Minister, some of his family members, former minister K T Jaleel, bureaucrats in the case.
Swapna said the former journalist Shaj had visited her soon after she made the statement before the court and had warned of consequences for making the allegations. Swapna alleged that Shaj was a messenger of the Chief Minister and had persuaded to withdraw the allegations.
Shaj, who is associated with the controversial Believers Church and other establishments, has denied all allegations.
The special investigation team, probing the conspiracy case against Swapna, has already questioned Shaj.
The conspiracy case was slapped against Swapna after Jaleel made a police complaint accusing Swapna of triggering a riot.
