Kochi: A 55-year-old farmer held the CPM-led government and three banks responsible for his decision to end his life due to financial crises in Alappuzha, media reports said.
This was disclosed in the suicide note left behind by K G Prasad who consumed poison to end his life in Thakazhi on Friday evening the reports said.
He was taken to a hospital in Thiruvalla, but could not be saved.
A purported audio clipping of Prasad alleged that the money that he was supposed to get as remuneration was given by the government by taking loan on his behalf under Paddy Receipt Sheet (PRS).
Prasad, who was president of BJP’s Alappuzha unit of Kisan Sangh, had informed its secretary Sivarajan before ending his life and his audio message is doing rounds in social media.
The banks rejected his application for loan citing PRS loan taken by the government, the reports said.
The government had claimed that the PRS would not impact the farmers saying that it was the obligation of the government to repay it, the reports said.
