Kochi: Police have recovered a three-month-old fetus from a refrigerator in an apartment in Kodungallur in Kerala’s Thrissur district, Kerala Kaumudi reported.
The apartment was occupied by an unmarried young couple who were in a living together relationship.
The police carried out a search following a tip off from some local people.
The 28-year-old woman, who lived with her partner in the apartment, told police she had a premature delivery
following severe abdominal pain.
The woman who is a nurse stated that she separated the fetus herself and kept it in the fridge due to difficulties in disposing of it.
The police have officially registered a case of unnatural death.
Fetus has been sent for a forensic examination and autopsy.
The police are investigating the case.
