Booker for Geetanjali Shree

Kochi: Writer Geetanjali Shree has won the Booker Prize for her translated Hindi novel, ‘Tomb of Sand’, which is the first Indian language book to win the award.
Hindi book  ‘Ret Samadhi’ was translated into English by Daisy Rockwell.
The book was one of the 13 novels, which were translated to English from 11 languages. 
The prize money of GBP 50,000 will be split evenly between the her and the translator.
‘Tomb of Sand’, is about the psychological problems endured  by an 80-year-old woman after the death of her husband.
 Geetanjali has authored three novels and many short stories.
