Kochi: In a blow to the Congress, senior partyParliamentarian Shashi Tharoor’s former staff was arrested in a gold smuggling case at the Delhi airport, media reports said.
Shiv Kumar Prasad was nabbed for allegedly smuggling 500 gm of gold on Wednesday.Prasad was arrested along with another person for receiving whom Prasad had reached the airport.
Tharoor wrote on X, “…I was shocked to hear of an incident involving a former member of my staff who has been rendering part-time service to me in terms of airport facilitation assistance. He is a 72 year old retiree undergoing frequent dialysis and was retained on a part-time basis on compassionate grounds.”
Taking a dig at the Congress-led INDI alliance, BJP described the coalition as “gold smugglers”. In 2020, Kerala’s former principal secretary M Sivasankar was accused of smuggling gold.
