Kochi: Kerala High Court quashed the Kerala government’s decision to set up a Judicial Commission to probe into Munambam, media reports said.
The court verdict came while hearing a petition of Waqf Samrakshana Vedhi.
The court observed that there was no public interest involved in the matter to set up a commission.
The government failed to give proper clarification on the setting up of the commission.
Though the government is empowered to set up the commission, a civil court had ruled that the land in Munambam belongs to the waqf board which has the right to take a decision.
Government was functioning mechanically, the court said.
The court said that the government had taken the decision without doing homework, the reports said.
