Sreenivasan laid to rest

Kochi: Acclaimed film personality
Sreenivasan, 69, was cremated with full state honours at his residence in Kandanad in Kochi on Sunday morning.
Sreenivasan, who shot into fame through his inimitable acting and film making skills, was ill for the last few years. He developed complications on Saturday morning and died midway to a hospital for dialysis.
His body was kept at the Town Hall for public homage brought to his farm house at Kandanad yesterday evening.

Countless people paid homage to the actor at his house in Kandanad.
He is survived by wife Vimala teacher, sons Vineeth Sreenivasan, Dhyan Sreenivasan, daughters-in-law Divya, Arpita and grandchildren.
A native of Paadyam in Kannur district, Sreenivasan entered films after studying at Adyar Film Institute in Chennai. He debuted with
P A Backer’s Manimuzhakkam. He began his screenwriting career in 1984 with Priyadarshan’s Odaruthammava Aalariyam.
Sreenivasan wrote screenplays for 54 films and directed two. Most of them were done with Sathyan Anthikad and Priyadarshan.
Perhaps inspired by celebrated film personalities Charlie Chaplin and Raj Kapoor, Sreenivasan transcended the boundaries of theoretical film making to venture into the world of film where no one had dared to use satire, comedy to tell people the secrets of dealing with hard times in life.
His two sons are also popular film personalities.
