HC rejects Biju’s apology

Kochi: The High Court of Kerala on Friday directed the Cashew Development Department Secretary in charge K Biju to resubmit an affidavit along with amended government order granting sanction for prosecution in multi-crore cashew import case.
Rejecting his unconditional apology over his controversial remarks in the original Government Order, the court directed him to issue a fresh order stating that ‘the order has been prepared with proper application of mind’, media reports said.
The case will be considered on July 15.
The court reminded Biju that he was appointed for serving people and not to become a tool of the government. No government could save someone who makes derogatory remarks, the court observed.
Biju said in his prayer that the remarks made by him in the Government Order were inappropriate. Biju said he was regretful of the remarks which went against the court.
The case pertains to CBI seeking permission to prosecute the Kerala State Cashew Development Corporation (KSCDC) former Chairman R Chandrasekharan, former Managing Director K A Ratheesh, former Chairman E Kasim and a trader Jaimon Joseph in a Rs 600 crore raw cashew import case during 2006 and 2015.
