Kochi: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay on Friday blamed the previous DMK government for poor crowd management at Karur which led to the 2025 stampede killing 41 people.
During his maiden visit to Karur after becoming Chief Minister, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay asked why the DMK government failed to deploy sufficient police during his roadshow at Karur on September 27, 2025, media reports said.
The stampede had left a deep scar in his life, Vijay said, announcing that a memorial for the victims will be built on behalf of TVK. Criticising the DMK, he termed the Dravidian party the “vending machine” of corruption.
Vijay interacted with the relatives of those killed in the mishap. Vijay will hand over appointment orders to the members of 31 families affected by the stampede.
