Kochi: The Kerala High Court has directed the State Police Chief to appear before it online in connection with ‘uncivilized behaviour’ of police officers towards citizens.
The court has asked the chief cop to appear on January 18, 2024, at 1.45 PM to clarify on the matter related to a police officer using abusive words against an advocate at Alathur Police Station in Palakkad the other day.
The court said it is always distressing to remind police officers to behave in a civilized manner with the citizens.
Issuance of circulars alone was not enough for guaranteeing civilized police behaviour, the Court said while hearing a contempt petition filed alleging a violation of the Court verdict in an earlier verdict.
