Kochi: In a blow to the Left front government in Kerala, the High Court of Kerala quashed Kerala
government’s ‘Nava Kerala Citizens Response Programme’ describing it as illegal, On Manorama reported.

Sen and Justice VM Shyam Kumar delivered the verdict while allowing petitions filed by KSU State President Aloysius Xavier and Perumbavoor resident M H Mubas.
The court observed that the project, which carried an estimated price tag of ₹20 crore, lacked the necessary formal financial sanctions.
The court also noted that there was no specific provision in the state budget to justify such an expansive expenditure from the public exchequer.

State government’s aim was to get feedback its welfare schemes, development from
80 lakh homes between January 1, 2026 to February 28.
The government order said it would use college students to collect the data.
The plea had alleged that the survey is a politically motivated exercise intended to benefit the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
