Kochi: An intense low-pressure over central India triggered widespread rain across Kerala with the weather Department sounding a red alert in eight districts in the state where four death have been reported.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) declared a Red alert in Idukki, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod, the Hindu reported.
An orange alert has been issued in Thrissur, Palakkad, and Ernakulam, while Kollam, Alappuzha, and Thiruvananthapuram are under a yellow alert.
Laha in Pathanamthitta recorded the highest rainfall of 236 mm in the last 24 hours ending 8:30 a.m. on Friday and 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. Venkurinji in Pathanamthitta received a rainfall of 182.5 mm and Neriamangalam in Ernakulam 171.5 mm.
