Kochi: Congress leader Eldhose Kunnappilly, MLA, in Kerala has been booked under non bailable charges after a woman levelled allegations of physical and mental abuse against him.
The woman, who was his acquaintance, accused Eldhose of taking her to Kovalam on September 14 and assaulting her after an argument broke out between them and Eldhose assaulted her, she said.
She lodged a complaint against Eldhose with the Thiruvananthapuram City Police commissioner who forwarded it to Kovalam police. The Kovalam police sat on the complaint for a week without acting on the complaint, she alleged.
She also accused the police of negotiating on behalf of Eldhose to wrap up the case by offering money. After a few days the police summoned her to the police station. As there was no response from her, a case was registered against the complainant who later appeared before the Vanchiyoor Magistrate’s court.
She clarified before the court the reason for disappearance. Following this the court sought clarification from the police. It was after this the police lodged an FIR against Eldhose who has not responded yet.
