Kochi: India today said that the country was responding to Pakistan’s action appropriately.
Addressing media in New Delhi, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri reiterated that the original escalation seen in Pahalgam terrorists killed 26 people on April 22.
India is responding in a restrained manner, he said.
Any further action by Pakistan by Islamabad will be responded appropriately, he said. Misri reiterated that no Pakistani civilians were harmed in India’s strike under Operation Sindoor.
Rejecting Pakistan’s allegations that India had targeted Neelum Valley Dam, Misri Pakistan was making ground to target Indian infrastructure. Pakistan will be entirely responsible for consequences if this happens, Misri said.
He said 16 people were killed and 59 injured in shelling from Pakistan army along LoC.
Col Sofiya Qureshi said India targeted Air Defence Radars and systems at a number of locations in Pakistan. Indian response was in the same domain with the same intensity as that of Pakistan. It has been reliably learnt that an Air Defence system at Lahore has been neutralised.
While briefing the Press, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh said that Pakistan unprovoked firing along the LoC using mortars and heavy-calibre artillery had increased in areas in Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar and Rajouri sectors in Jammu and Kashmir.
Misri said the escalation began by Pakistan through the Pahalgam terror attack and India retaliated by Operation Sindoor.
Misri reminded Islamabad hosting global terrorist Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan called him a martyr.
Pakistan is home to a large number of terrorists proscribed by the UN and many countries, Misri said and reminded Pakistan Defence Minister and former Foreign Minister accepting its involvement with such terror groups.
