US hits Iran ship, 80 perish

Kochi: An attack on an Iranian warship IRIS Dena by a torpedo fired from a US nuke submarine killed 80 Iranian soldiers in southern Sri Lanka.
The attack on the ship took place off the coast of Galle in the wee hours of Wednesday, media reports said.
At least 32 sailors have been rescued from the frigate, which sank just outside the island nation’s territorial waters. Sri Lanka’s navy and air force confirmed they have been deployed for a rescue operation. The frigate of Iran Navy, built domestically at Bandar Abbas, was commissioned into service in 2021.
At least 180 sailors were believed to be aboard the ship.
