Kochi: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay’s film ‘Jana Nayagan’ Box Office Collection witnessed a sharp drop on Friday.
However, the actor turned politician’s last film as an actor opened strongly at the box office, earning Rs 42.7 crore net in India on its first day, the Screen reported.
According to trade tracker Sacnilk, Jana Nayagan earned Rs 21.15 crore net on its second day, taking its total India collection to Rs 63.85 crore. Worldwide, the movie has earned Rs 112.50 crore.
The film recorded an overall occupancy of 44.33% on Friday, with 32.77% occupancy in the morning shows, 37.23% in the afternoon, 47% in the evening, and 60.31% during the night shows.
According to Sacnilk, Jana Nayagan is currently screening in 9,486 shows nationwide and has earned an estimated Rs 19.15 crore net so far today, the Screen reported.
With these early figures, Jana Nayagan’s total India gross collection has climbed to Rs 97.60 crore, while its India net collection stands at Rs 83 crore. Since the Day 3 box office numbers are still based on live estimates, the final collections are expected to increase once late-night shows conclude and official figures are reported.
