Kochi: Left front government in Kerala has joined centre’s PM SHRI scheme to secure an estimated ₹1,446 crore for the modernisation of government schools.
Ignoring opposition from its long time ally CPI, K Vasuki, General Education Secretary, finalised modalities in New Delhi.
CPI has condemned the move of the government without taking the allies into confidence.
The CPI’s State secretariat is meeting on Friday to discuss the issue. The CPI said the National Education Policy
infringed on federalism.
The CPI’s State executive had warned that Kerala would receive only a negligible amount of funds. Tamil Nadu and West Bengal have rejected the PM SHRI.
