Kochi: Former Prime Minister of
Bangladesh Begum Khaleda Zia, 80, died due to health issues at a hospital in Dhaka, media reports said.
Zia, who was the chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), on Tuesday morning.
She was hospitalized on November 23 with pneumonia and infections in her heart and lungs.
She was facing complications liver cirrhosis, arthritis, diabetes, and chronic issues affecting her kidneys, lungs, heart, and eyes.
Zia was the first female prime minister of Bangladesh.
There was a plan to shift her abroad for treatment, but it could not proceed due to her fragile condition.
