Kochi: A day after losing the test series to South Africa in Cape, Virat Kohli has quit as captain of the team.
Kohli made the announcement through social media accounts.
The decision comes a month after the BCCI had removed him as the captain of the one day side.
Before this, Kohli had stepped down as the skipper of the T-20 team.
Kohli thanked the BCCI for helping him to lead the national team.
Kohli said he had worked hard in the last seven years. He had made a 120 per cent contribution while leading the team. He said young players made his job memorable and beautiful.
Kohli made his debut on June 20, 2011 against the West Indies.
