Kochi: Lawyers disrupted court proceedings shouting slogans against the Chief Judicial Magistrate for registering an FIR against an advocate for producing forged documents for the benefit of his client, media reports said. The lawyers barged into the courtroom protesting against the Magistrate who recorded the events in her order, the reports said.
The order accused the President and Secretary of the Kottayam Bar Association of leading the protest attended by about 200 lawyers.The protest was the result of the police registering an FIR advocate M P Nawab for producing forged documents to secure bail for his client.
Both the client and advocate Nawab were booked under various sections of IPC on November 8. The Kottayam Bar Association issued a notice on November 22 informing the court about their plans to organise a protest against the magistrate.The notice called for a boycott of court proceedings on Thursday. The association threatened to go on indefinite strike until Nawab was given a free chit, the reports said.
