Kochi: In a major relief ahead of the Thrikkakara assembly bi-election, the CPM-led LDF has shown impressive performance in the local bodies by-elections.
Despite K-Rail and other issues going against the LDF government, the ruling front has won 23 seats.
This is a moral boost for the ruling front as it is going to test its popularity in the assembly bi-election.
The Congress-led UDF won12 seats while the BJP headed NDA six seats.
The NDA has also done well by winning two seats which were the seats earlier won by the LDF in Tripunithura municipality in Ernakulam. With this the strength of the saffron party in the municipality has gone up to 17 and the LDF 23.
