Kochi: The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 was passed by Lok Sabha on Wednesday by voice vote. The bill needs clearance from the Rajya Sabha. The bill prescribes punishment of up to 10 years’ imprisonment and a Rs 50 lakh fine for offenders. It suggests establishing fast-track courts in every state to exclusively try paper leak cases and mandates that investigations be completed within two months, India Today reported.
Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s remarks against Home Minister Amit Shah triggered uproar in the house. The Bill, introduced by Union Minister Jitendra Singh on July 27 after a huge protests led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). Rahul Gandhi accused Amit Shah of ordering fire on protesters during the Cockroach Janta Party agitation. Gandhi made the allegation during the debate on the bill in the Lok Sabha.
