Kochi: Passengers of an express train had a miraculous escape from a possible tragedy when the train chugged into the wrong track due to human error near Kasaragod in Kerala , media reports said.
A signaling error by the Kanhangad station master led to the Thiruvananthapuram-bound Maveli Express entering the wrong track at Kanhangad Railway Station Thursday evening, the reports said.
The train entered the middle track in between platform one and two surprising the passengers who were waiting for the train on platform one as per the announcement.
Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM) Anil Kumar admitted to the error allegedly committed by the station master, media reports quoting the official said.
When asked how the Station Master committed the mistake, the ADRM said the official was distracted while addressing a passenger.
The train was stopped for an additional eight minutes to help the passengers board the train that entered an unscheduled platform, the reports said.
Ironically, the union railway ministry has failed terribly in taking the erring staff to task after the Balasore accident in Odisha killing over 296 people in June this year due to alleged human error.
