NIA’s startling revelation

Kochi: In a startling revelation, the National Investigation Agency has claimed to have unearthed plans by suspected IS supporters to trigger explosions in Kerala, media reports said.
The agency said that it had foiled possible terror attacks on places of worship and some leaders, the reports said.
The NIA arrested Ashif alias Mathilakath Kodayil Ashrad in Sathyamangalam in Tamil Nadu the other day during a joint operation with Kerala police’s Anti terror squad.
Raids were conducted in Thrissur and Palakkad in this connection. NIA has found incriminating documents during the raids, the reports said.
The NIA claimed that the gang was raising funds for promoting IS activities in the state.
Three of them conspired to carry out their operations while working in Qatar. They used Telegram to communicate with each other. They were planning to loot nationalised banks to find their activities.
Cases have been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and UAPA.
NIA is looking for two more suspects. The agency is grilling four in this connection.
