Kochi: Disgraced SFI leader Nikhil Thomas was arrested in a fake degree certificate case after he went underground for about five days, media reports said.
He was arrested from a bus in Kottayam, the reports said. He had sent feelers to surrender as the police started summoning his kin including his father to the police station to trace his whereabouts, the reports said.
There are reports that he had faked the certificate in Kochi with support from a former SFI leader abroad.
The SFI expelled him after Kalinga University confirmed that the degree certificate furnished by Nikhil was forged. Nikhil, who was a member of the CPM Market Branch in Kayamkulam, was expelled by the party by saying that his actions had brought bad name to the party.
