Kochi: A court on Tuesday rejected the bail plea of Shimjitha arrested in connection with abetment to suicide of Deepak U after a video sighting Deepak, 41, was posted by the accused in the social media.
The Kunnamangalam Judicial First Class Magistrate Court rejected the plea after perusing the police remand report.
The preliminary probe indicated that videos posted by the accused on social media allegedly led to the suicide of Deepak.
Shimjitha Musthafa (35) was arrested last Wednesday on charges of abetment of suicide. The Shimjitha’s on social media allegedly showed Deepak in a poor light on January 16.
According to the police report submitted before the court, Deepak committed suicide after watching the controversial videos.
The accused is a post graduate and is a former ward member of the Areekode Grama Panchayat.
The police said the accused did not file any complaint of misdemeanor. The report stated that Deepak suffered extreme mental anguish.
Shimjitha is currently lodged at the Women’s Jail in Manjeri.
