Kochi: India won the test series against Sri Lanka beating the islanders by 238 runs at M A Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru today.
The five-day match ended in three days as the visitors could not endure the aggression of India bowlers.
Winning the toss, India batted first and struggled to make only 259. But for Shreyas Iyer’s 92 and Rishabh Pant’s 39, the visitors would have witnessed devastation.
For Sri Lanka, L Embuldeniya took 3 for 94 and P Jayawickrama 3 for 81.
Sri Lanka batsmen performed poorly as they could make only 101 in the first innings.
The only batsmen who showed some confidence were A Mathews who made 43 and Dickewella 21. Bumrah took 5 for 24.
India played much better in the second innings making 303 for 9 and declaring the innings. Again it was Shreyas Iyer and R Pant who made 67 and R Pant 50 respectively.
Captain Rohit Sharma made 46.
P Jayawickrama took 4 for 78 and L Embuldeniya 3 for 87.
Sri Lanka played better in the second innings but could reach nowhere near the winning total.
R Ashwin took 4 for 55 and Bumrah 3 for 23.
Pant was spotted player of the series while Iyer man of the match.
