Kochi: Passengers and crew members of a Kochi-bound Air India Express flight had a providential escape due to timely detection of smoke in the aircraft before take off from the Muscat International Airport today.
A total of 141 passengers including children and six crew members were evacuated through the safety slides of the IX-442 aircraft, media reports said.
According to unconfirmed reports at least 14 people had suffered injuries in the process, the reports said.
Oman’s Civil Aviation authorities said that the specialists were looking into the issue.
They said that safety of passengers, airport and traffic are being ensured.
The smoke emanated from the wings of the aircraft.
