Kochi: A government junior teacher was booked and suspended for refusing to sing Vande Mataram and breaching school discipline in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh, media reports said.
Action was taken against the Assistant Teacher Shamsul Hasan in Shahpur Kutub locality for not only refusing to sing Vande Mataram, but also confronting another teacher over the issue.
Hasan was booked under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Roravar police station in Aligarh based on a complaint of assistant teacher, Chandrapal Singh.
The UP Basic Education Department said the teacher has been suspended and a departmental probe initiated based on the testimony of five teachers at the school.
